Solid PET (PVC-free) — Material Guide

Internal · Updated July 2026

What it is

Solid PET is a rigid, PVC-free plastic sign material. It is lightweight, weather resistant, and more durable than Foam PVC, making it a good environmentally friendlier alternative to PVC-based signage. Solid PET works both indoors and outdoors and is suitable for long-term signage.

What it is used for

Solid PET is the material used for our Plastic Signs (Solid PET) in the Design Page. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It is more durable than Foam PVC but not as rigid as aluminium — very large signs may flex slightly, so aluminium is the better choice when maximum rigidity is required.

Thickness options

1 mm Is a special option and need an order value of at least 5,000 SEK - Special Routine — Thickness

Custom options

Most Solid PET requests can be handled through the standard assortment. Custom requests fall outside the standard Design Page flow and require a minimum order value of SEK 5,000. Always confirm with production before quoting — never estimate prices for custom requests without checking first.

Option Notes
No laminate Solid PET can be produced without laminate but will lose significant durability. Note: removing laminate does not always reduce cost, as it still requires a custom production flow.

Common use cases

  • Outdoor signage — resistant to weather and fading, suitable for long-term exposure.
  • Information and business signs — durable and professional for permanent outdoor and indoor signage.
  • Parking signs — weather resistant and long-lasting for outdoor parking areas.
  • Directional signage — lightweight and easy to mount for wayfinding both indoors and outdoors.
  • Industrial signs — durable enough for many industrial settings, though aluminium is better for the harshest environments.

Sustainability

Solid PET is produced in Belgium with a CO2e of 4.21 kg per m². As a PVC-free material, it has a lower environmental impact than many PVC-based alternatives. Its long-term durability also reduces how often it needs to be replaced.
