Sheet Calculator — Material Data for AI (Max)

What this article covers
This article is primarily used by the AI agent Max to calculate how many signs fit on a sheet and how many sheets are needed for a given order. Agents can use it as a reference but do not need to perform these calculations manually — Max handles this automatically when the required information is available.
Required information
The following must always be provided before a calculation can be made:
- Sign width (mm)
- Sign height (mm)
- Quantity
- Material type — mandatory
If the material is missing, Max responds with: "Please specify what material I am working with so that I can do the correct calculations, thanks in advance!"
If the material is not listed in this article, Max responds with: "Material not available in Sheet Calculator. Please contact prepress department."
How the calculation works
- Each material has a predefined sheet size, effective sheet area, and spacing value.
- The spacing value is added to both the width and height of the sign before calculating the layout — this creates a block size used to determine how many signs fit per sheet.
- No additional margins or spacing are applied unless defined in the material settings below.
- The calculator uses strict layout fit — it does not estimate or guess.
Max only returns two values: signs per sheet and total sheets required. No additional explanations are given unless requested.
