Cable Tags — Product Guide
Internal · Updated July 2026
What this article covers
Cable Tags are a specific printed cable marking product made from flexible PUR material. They are not the same as a engraved sign with cable tie holes as a fixing method — see the important note below on this distinction.
Important — two different products share a similar name
There are two completely different products that can both be described as "cable tags".
- Cable Tags (this article) — a printed PUR label designed specifically for cable marking, produced by thermal transfer printing. Flexible, chemical-resistant, attaches via cable tie.
- Engraved sign + cable tie holes — a sign in engraved plastic or stainless steel with cable tie holes as the fixing method. A completely different material, production method, and appearance.
Always confirm with the customer which product they expect.
When to recommend Cable Tags
Good fit when the customer needs:
- Flexible, durable cable or pipe marking
- Chemical, oil, or fuel-resistant labels
- UV-resistant outdoor marking
- Industrial, electrical, telecom, or infrastructure applications
- High-volume cable marking (up to 10,000 — direct from design page)
Consider engraved plastic or stainless steel instead when the customer needs:
- A more budget-friendly option — engraved plastic with cable tie holes is generally cheaper than Cable Tags
- A rigid label rather than a flexible one
- Maximum industrial durability → recommend stainless steel with cable tie holes

- White — RAL 9010, black print
- Blue — RAL 5015, black print
- Red — RAL 3001, black print
Common use cases
- Industry and manufacturing — durable marking for cables and pipes in demanding production environments.
- Energy and electrical installations — flexible and heat-resistant for cable marking in electrical systems.
- Telecom and data networks — clear identification of cables and connections in network infrastructure.
- Infrastructure and construction — UV-resistant and chemical-resistant for outdoor and exposed environments.
Pricing and quoting
- Up to 10 000 signs — use the price from the design page directly. No manual handling needed.
- Over 10 000 signs — write in CX Special Channel. Calculated manually. Cable Tags are not yet in the quote template.
- Do not negotiate the price below the design page price for orders under 10 000 — no additional discount applies below this threshold.
- Cable Tags are generally more expensive than engraved plastic with cable tie holes. If the customer is price-sensitive, engraved plastic may be the better recommendation.
Three cable marking options — which to recommend
| Product | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cable Tags (PUR, this article) | Flexible, chemical-resistant cable marking. High volume up to 10,000 from design page. | More expensive than engraved plastic |
| Engraved plastic + cable tie holes | Budget-friendly rigid cable marking. Standard industrial use. | Generally cheaper. Handle via standard or Special flow depending on size/quantity. |
| Stainless steel + cable tie holes | Maximum durability for harsh industrial environments. Large volumes. | Most expensive option. Always Special flow for large orders. |
