Pole Attachment - Fixing Method

What this article covers
Pole attachment is one of Signmax's outdoor fixing methods, used to mount signs to poles. The attachment is fixed around the pole and secured using screws. By default, pole attachment is only available for aluminium signs. Commonly used for street signs, directional signs, and parking signs.
When to recommend it
Good fit when the customer needs:

- Directional signs
- Parking signs
- Outdoor signage mounted on poles
Material compatibility
Standard pole attachments require the sign material to be bent slightly to fit around the fitting.

Workaround for incompatible materials or shapes: Attach aluminium strips (lister) to the back of the sign using tape, then fix the pole attachment to the strips instead of the sign itself. This must be clearly noted in the production checklist so the sign is not sent for bending by mistake. This goes through the Special Routine, requires extra manual production time, and the order must be above SEK 5 000 to consider this option.

Recommend the UK pole attachment specifically when the pole diameter is 76 mm.
Special / large pole attachment (100 mm)
A larger fitting (100 mm diameter) is available for heavier or larger signs. This is not part of the standard product catalogue — check with production via the Special Routine for availability and correct product line before quoting.
Non-standard pole diameters
Only 60 mm (standard) and 76 mm (UK) are stocked as standard fittings. For other diameters (e.g. 80 mm, square poles) — do not confirm feasibility to the customer without checking with production via the Special Routine first.

For unusually tall or oversized signs, additional attachments spaced along the edge may be needed — confirm via the Special Routine rather than estimating.
Maximum sign size
- Standard aluminium with pole attachment: max 2000 × 1100 mm.
- Larger signs are not supported with standard fittings — escalate to the Special Routine to discuss alternative mounting solutions.
Double-sided signs with pole attachment
- Double-sided pole-mounted signs are made from two individual signs joined back-to-back — this requires the special pole attachment variant.
- Mounting holes and attachment points must be mirrored between the two sides so they align correctly when joined.
- Text and design placement must account for this mirroring — for example, left-aligned text on one side needs right-aligned placement on the other if the design should match once assembled. Always confirm the layout with the customer before production to avoid reclaims.
- Always note in the order and checklist that the pair should be produced as a single double-sided unit.
